Will Price
Will is a writer and editor based in Seattle, Washington. He's reviewed kitchen gear for more than 10 years for brands like Gear Patrol, Men's Health, Serious Eats, Robb Report, and others. Before that, he made kitchen gear for different companies manufacturing cast-iron cookware and chef's knives. And before that, he worked as a catering cook.
Originally from the American South, Will has strong opinions on cast-iron cookware, bourbon, and whether corn kernels belong in cornbread. When he's not comparing specs or soliciting expert opinion, he's probably watching basketball.
Highlights:
- Editor for 10+ years, reviewing and testing products
- Published in Serious Eats, Gear Patrol, Men's Health, Robb Report, Yahoo, Garden & Gun, Hone Health, & More
Experience
My first few jobs after finishing my undergraduate in journalism were for companies that made things—food, cookware, knives, phone cases, rifle scopes, and so on. Seeing how the sausage is made, so to speak. More specifically, seeing what it takes to make something genuinely best-in-class, and learning to parse the dark magic of marketing lingo.
Then I met my partner who lived in New York, so I had to live in New York. I lucked into a job at a magazine in New York where I started testing and reviewing consumer products professionally—kitchen gear, mattresses, bourbon, vacuums, headphones, pens, bodywash, boots, and virtually anything else that's not a car or a house. Turning an interest in making products into a knack for testing them wasn't hard—you just have to ask yourself if you'd genuinely recommend the thing you're testing to someone you care about.
When I'm not tinkering with a new gadget, I'm probably cooking for my partner or playing soccer (poorly).
