Vanessa Chiasson started her writing career as a blogger, chronicling her travel adventures at TurnipseedTravel.com. Her very first freelance piece was a study of Hawaiian coffee farms and agriculture, farming, baking, and food frugality often informs her work. Living and working in Newfoundland as a graduate student not only introduced Vanessa to chips, dressing, and gravy (one of her favourite meals!). It also honed her baking skills, as she stayed up late making chocolate infused shortbread cookies for her fellow students.
